I am a qualified archivist with a number of years experience in helping clients with their historical research needs.

My charges are £21 an hour, during which time I would expect to research a number of historical records and indexes. I normally advise clients to start with an hour or two, to ensure that a suitable amount of research material exists before proceeding further.

Records for a typical family history enquiry search would probably include local trade directories, census 1841-1901, maps, parish registers and birth, marriage and death indexes.

Research can be undertaken at the following record offices; Chester and Cheshire, Flintshire,Denbighshire and Liverpool. For Liverpool Record Office travel expenses will be charged. Photocopies of items out of copyright (such as census extracts and early edition Ordnance survey map extracts)will be charged for at cost price and included in the report. I will notify the client of any items of interest that are still in copyright and enclose the appropriate forms and references with the report.

A charge is still made for negative research results, but should this occur I will do my best to advise a client of other possibilities.
